2026 Competition Announcement

Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Contest for 2026

Registration Deadline was January 30, 2026

The Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Competition has a long history of promoting musically talented student soloists from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Celebrating its 64th year, this competition is dedicated to nurturing the love of music and the joy of active participation, offering a platform for young musicians to showcase their skills on acoustic instruments and voice. It’s a wonderful opportunity for aspiring musicians to gain recognition as they continue to develop their musical pursuits.

First Place Award $1,000
Second Place Award $750
Third Place Award $500
Honorable Mention Award $300

The Finalist Recital is on Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 pm
Scholarship finalists will perform for a live audience and a panel of judges at Mendelssohn Auditorium.  After the finalists perform, all Division and Category awards will be announced and distributed. Only the finalists perform at the recital.
